New cast and new tickets for West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

REHEARSALS began this week for the third West End cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. They will start their performances at the Palace Theatre on May 23, 2018 following the final performance from the current cast on May 20.

Joining the company are Jamie Ballard who will play Harry Potter, Susie Trayling as Ginny Potter and Joe Idris-Roberts as their son Albus Potter. Jonathan Case joins to play Scorpius Malfoy.

Thomas Aldridge continues as Ron Weasley as well as Rakie Ayola as Hermione Granger and Helen Aluko as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. James Howard also continues as Draco Malfoy.

In addition, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender have announced that on April 5, 2018 at 11am BST they will release a further allocation of tickets for sale for performances from January 16, 2019 to April 7, 2019.

Tickets are priced from £15 per part and for every performance there are over 300 tickets at £20 or less per part. Details of any other ticket releases will continue to be listed on the official website, social media channels and the official newsletter.

Jamie Ballard’s numerous theatre credits include Mother Christmas and In The Vale of Heath (Hampstead Theatre), Uncle Vanya (Theatr Clwyd/Sheffield Crucible), The White Devil and Troilus and Cressida (Shakespeare’s Globe), King John (Rose Theatre), Macbeth (Trafalgar Studios), Scenes from an Execution, Antigone, War Horse, Saint Joan, Emperor and Galilean and Some Trace of Her (National Theatre), and The Merchant of Venice, Measure for Measure, Written on the Heart, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, King John, As You Like It and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RSC).

His screen credits include Three Girls, Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street, The Hollow Crown II, Sons of Liberty, Father Brown, The Crimson Field and The Great Fire (TV); His film credits include Suffragette, X & Y, Kittiwakes, A Poet in New York, The Comedian and Black Death (film).

Susie Trayling’s many theatre credits include Iphigenia Quartet, Idomeneus and Vanya (Gate Theatre), The Crucible and Twelfth Night (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Thomas Tallis (Shakespeare’s Globe), King John, Richard III, A Soldier in Every Son (RSC), The Constant Wife and Private Lives (Salisbury Playhouse), Women of Troy, Dream Play, Iphigenia at Aulis (National Theatre), Love’s Labour’s Lost (Rose Theatre Kingston) and A Doll’s House, The Portrait of a Lady and Habeus Corpus (Peter Hall Company).

Her television credits include Killing Eve, Will, The White Princess, Coronation Street, Father Brown, Midsomer Murders, Vera, Emma, Holby City and Casualty. She can also be seen on film in We’ll Take Manhattan.

Joe Idris-Roberts is currently playing the title role in Pinocchio for the National Theatre. His other theatre credits include Eyes Closed Ears Covered (The Bunker), Forty Years On (Chichester Festival Theatre), The Philanderer (Orange Tree Theatre), The History Boys and Showtune: The Jerry Herman Review (The Forum Theatre) and Chester and Jesus Christ Superstar (Clwyd Theatr Cymru).

Jonathan Case will be making his professional stage debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. His television credits include Holby City and Orton: Laid Bare, while on film he has been seen in Undergods.

Rosemary Annabella, David Annen, Jordan Bamford, Emma Bown, Adrian Christopher, Craig Connolly, Danny Dalton, Leah Haile, April Hughes, Martin Johnston, Gareth Kennerley, Susan Lawson-Reynolds, Ryan J Mackay, David Mara, Dylan Mason, Barry McCarthy, Sandy McDade, James McGregor, Annette McLaughlin, Tom Peters, James Phoon, Eve Ponsonby, Kate Russell-Smith, Sinéad Sharkey, Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn, Mark Theodore and Joshua Wyatt complete the 42-strong company playing a variety of characters, including seven children who will alternate two roles.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.
