Old Goat Song - Lion and Unicorn Theatre

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

OLD GOAT Song, by David Reiser, receives its UK premiere at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre where it runs from Monday, October 22 to Saturday, October 27, 2012.

In what is described as an unusual new musical, an ageing man’s present and past collide and interchange as he meets a young waitress who reminds him of his late wife.

Old Goat Song stars Andrea Miller (Slay it With Music), Leigh Lothian and Pippa Windslow.

The production is directed by Matthew Gould, with musical direction by Katy Lipson, who recently produced the West End run of The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

Old Goat Song is produced by A STAGE KINDLY New Musical Theatre Initiative, a London based organisation dedicated to nurturing new musical theatre writing, whose credits include such diverse shows as Soviet Zion, Roll On The Day, and the acclaimed Ballets Russes (also by David Reiser).

David Reiser’s published musicals – there are over 50 in total – are in continual production throughout the U.S. and Canada and have also been produced in Europe, Turkey, Japan, Korea and Australia.

Reiser wrote Old Goat Song with Jules Tasca (librettist), who has taught playwriting at Oxford University and performed with a Commedia dell’arte group in Italy. He is the author of over 100 published plays and scripted The Hal Leonard TV Special. For a production of the one-act play version of Old Goat Song, he received a Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Award.
