Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
RICHARD Coyle and Jodhi May will star in the world premiere of Mark Haddon’s Polar Bears, which runs at the Donmar Warehouse from April 6 (previews from April 1) to May 22, 2010.
Haddon’s play, his first, explores one man’s struggle to love, support and live with someone suffering from a psychological condition.
John has never met anyone like Kay. When the moon is in the right phase, she is magnetic and amazingly alive. But when the darkness closes in, she is lost to another world, a world in which John does not belong.

May’s theatre credits include Blackbird, The Talking Cure and Platanov. Her screen credits are numerous and include Tipping the Velvet, Daniel Deronda, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Mayor of Casterbridge, Friends and Crocodiles, The Amazing Mrs Pritchard and Emma (TV); The Last of the Mohicans, The Woodlanders, The House of Mirth, Flashbacks of a Fool and Defiance (film).
Haddon’s novels include the multi award-winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, A Spot of Bother and The Real Porky Phillips.
