Priscilla Queen of the Desert - John Bowe joins cast

ON MARCH 8, 2010, John Bowe will take over the role of Bob in Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical, which is currently booking at the Palace Theatre until February 26, 2011.
Bowe’s more recent theatre credits include Terms of Endearment (UK tour) and The Lady from the Sea (Almeida Theatre), as well as many productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company – Antony and Cleopatra, As You Like It and Hamlet among others.
His numerous screen credits include Prime Suspect (as George Marlow), Coronation Street (Duggie Ferguson), The Cranford Chronicles (Dr Morgan), Dalziel and Pascoe, Silent Witness, Tipping the Velvet and Class Act (TV); Einstein and Me, Stalin and The Living Daylights (film).
In the cast of Priscilla he will be joining original cast members Jason Donovan (Tick/Mitzi) and Oliver Thornton (Adam/Felicia), and new cast member Don Gallagher (Benadette), who also joins the company on March 8.
Based on the Oscar-winning film and written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott and directed by Simon Phillips, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical tells the story of Tick, Bernadette and Adam, a glamorous Sydney-based performing trio who agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback.
It has just won four Whatsonstage.com Awards – Best Musical, Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for Oliver Thornton( Adam), Best Set Design for Brian Thomson, and Best Choreographer for the late Ross Coleman. These are the only theatre awards chosen by the public and this year, a record 46,000 Whatsonstage.com readers took part.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical has also received three Olivier Award nominations – Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Tony Sheldon and Best Costume Design for Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner. The results will be announced on March 21.
