Quartermaine's Terms - further casting announced
FURTHER casting has been announced for the first major West End revival of Simon Gray’s Quartermaine’s Terms, which runs at Wyndham’s Theatre from January 29 (previews from January 23) to April 13, 2013.
Joining previously announced Rowan Atkinson are Conleth Hill (as Henry Windscape), Will Keen (Derek Meadle), Felicity Montagu (Melanie Garth) and Malcolm Sinclair (Eddie Loomis).
Conleth Hill won Olivier Awards for his performance in The Producers and Stones in His Pockets; Will Keen, recently seen in Huis Clos at Trafalgar Studios, has also appeared in The Arsonists and Kiss of the Spider Woman; Felicity Montagu is best known for starring opposite Steve Coogan in I’m Alan Partridge; and Malcolm Sinclair’s numerous stage credits include The Doctor’s Dilemma and The Habit of Art, both at the National Theatre.
Set in the 1960s in an English language school for foreigners, Quartermaine’s Terms is a humorous but ultimately moving account of several years in the lives of seven teachers.
At the heart of the group is St. John Quartermaine (Atkinson) – kind, pleasant and agreeable, but utterly hopeless as a teacher. An almost permanent feature in the staff room, he’s always available to listen to the problems of his self-obsessed colleagues. But when a new Principal is appointed, Quartermaine’s future looks precarious…
Quartermaine’s Terms is produced by Michael Codron and directed by Richard Eyre (Betty Blue Eyes, Notes on a Scandal).
