Regeneration - young journalists wanted for behind-the-scenes stories

Theatre news (, the new UK touring theatre website, is launching a national search for budding young arts journalists to cover the behind-the-scenes excitement surrounding the forthcoming world premiere stage version of Pat Barker’s acclaimed World War I novel, Regeneration.

Adapted by Nicholas Wright and directed by Simon Godwin, Regeneration premieres on September 2, 2014 (previews from August 29) at the Theatre Royal, Northampton, where it continues until September 20 before touring until November 29.

The story is set in 1917 at Craiglockhart War Hospital in Scotland, where poet and soldier Siegfried Sassoon has been institutionalized in an attempt to undermine his public disapproval of the war.

As part of its new “Young Reporters Scheme”, TheatreCloud is recruiting would-be journalists, aged 18-25 years old, to report on the production’s run at their local theatre.

In the week that Regeneration hits town, young reporters will not only see the show, they’ll be granted special access at their theatre to carry out a variety of Regeneration media assignments, including: interview features with the cast and related experts, video blogs, audience vox pops, crew diaries and backstage tour reports. Participating venues are: Northampton (August 29 – September 20), Bradford Alhambra (October 7 – 11), Nottingham Theatre Royal (October 14 – 18), Cheltenham Everyman (October 21 – 25), Darlington Civic (November 11 – 15) and Blackpool Grand (November 25 – 29).

Theatre Cloud’s Young Reporters Scheme is approved as part of the Arts Council-funded national Arts Award ( Participation will prove invaluable for those gaining experience and credits while working towards their bronze, silver or gold level Arts Award.
