Reprieve Comedy Night 2010 - Lyceum Theatre

Reprieve Comedy Night 2010

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

ON MONDAY, June 7, 2010, Alistair Barrie and Clive Stafford Smith will host the Reprieve Comedy Night 2010 at the Lyceum Theatre.

Top comedians such as Tim Minchin, Ed Byrne, Stewart Lee, Robin Ince, Kevin Eldon, Shappi Khorsandi, Isy Suttie and Andy Zaltzman, will celebrate ten years of Reprieve’s vital work on death row and Guantánamo Bay in a unique stand-up show entitled Laughter/Pain.

Talking about its work, Reprieve Director Clive Stafford Smith said:

“Our work tends to be serious and saddening at times. Learning to laugh in the face of adversity is an important skill to possess when faced with the most daunting circumstances – these comedians help us see the silly side of the grimmest of situations. This is a rare chance to see some of the smartest comics on the circuit today, performing for a really great cause!”

Reprieve uses the law to enforce the human rights of prisoners, from death row to Guantánamo Bay. It investigates, litigates and educates. Working on the frontline, it provides legal support to prisoners unable to pay for it themselves. It promotes the rule of law around the world, and secures each person’s right to a fair trial. In doing so it saves lives. To find out more or to make a donation visit: www.reprieve.org.uk
