Theatre preview

RICH Mix has announced its theatre and performing arts programme for June and July 2013 and it includes:

Devdas – Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 16 at 7.30pm on Friday and 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets: £10, £8 concessions.

Devdas is a fresh adaptation of Sharat Chandra Chattopdhyay’s 1917 Bengali novel. The original story, derived from Hindu myths, is transposed to 1970s Britain and Bengal, but the themes of love and commitment are timeless.

Stories of London Double Bill: Bring The Bucket and JSA (Job Seekers Anonymous) Mark II – Saturday, June 22.

Throughout 2013, Rich Mix is presenting 14 new works from young performers and companies who have been nurtured at the venue. They have been given creative advice, technical support, career development and free rehearsal space. In return, these performers are producing 14 varied but vital perspectives on the global melting-pot that is London.

Move to Stand: The Collision of Things – Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 at 7.30pm. Tickets: £10, £8 concessions.

Award-winning physical storytelling with an international cast and live music, bring to life the delicate and compelling story of three friends who lose one life to gain another.

Family Theatre: Tucked In – The Golden Cowpat – Sunday, July 7 at 11am and 2pm. Tickets: £6, £5 Tower Hamlets residents.

A dexterous piece of storytelling with beautifully inventive music, this show combines a delightful story, talented performers and catchy energetic music to entertain children (4+) and adults alike.

Stories of London Double Bill: Every Way Up Has its Way Down and Let’s Get Angry – Friday, July 12.

PAiL presents: Knock Art! – Saturday, July 13 at 5pm. Tickets: £15, £10, £5.

PAiL (Polish Artists in London) welcome audiences to an interactive exhibition, tongue twisting theatre, visual odysseys and lots of live music.

Open Arena: Exile – Saturday, July 20 at 7.30pm. Tickets: £10, £8 concessions.

A multimedia interactive theatre event from Open Arena, Exile explores Romanian voices in London through individual narratives, while looking at how Romanian contemporary culture was shaped in the shadows of communist oppression.

Steakhouse Live – Sunday, July 27 at 4pm. Tickets: £15, £12 adv.

Presenting a collection of experimental performance over one day, Steakhouse Live is a space for live artists from across the UK to show new and risky work.
