AFTER the sell-out five-star production of their spectacular concert version of A Christmas Carol last year, the London Musical Theatre Orchestra returns by overwhelming popular demand to the Lyceum Theatre in London.

With two performances of the festive favourite at 7.30pm on December 11 and December 18, 2017, and starring critically acclaimed and award-winning actor Robert Lindsay as Scrooge, the Charles Dickens classic gets the full Broadway treatment by the award-winning team of Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin), Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical) and Mike Ockrent (Crazy For You, Me and My Girl).

This joyous musical extravaganza ran for ten years at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where The New York Times called it “a tonic for adults, and for children a transfixing journey”.

LMTO’s concert version of A Christmas Carol follows their triumphant five-star performances of Mack and Mabel at The Hackney Empire, Bernstein’s Candide In Concert at Cadogan Hall and a sell-out five-star 2016 season.

The London Musical Theatre Orchestra will be conducted by Freddie Tapner and full casting will be announced shortly.

Founder Freddie Tapner said: “I’m enormously excited to return to the Lyceum Theatre with Robert as our Scrooge. This musical adaption of A Christmas Carol contains some of my favourite Alan Menken tunes – A Place Called Home, Christmas Together and the hilarious Mr Fezziwig’s Annual Christmas Ball – and to perform them with the full London Musical Theatre Orchestra will be a total thrill. To my mind, it’s the ultimate family Christmas treat.”

Robert Lindsay is well known for TV shows including Citizen Smith, My Family, Hornblower and Jericho, along with movies such as Wimbledon, Fierce Creatures and Grace Of Monaco. He has also appeared in countless stage productions during his career, starring in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Me And My Girl (winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Musical and the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical), The Cherry Orchard and The Three Musketeers, among others.
