Running with the Firm returns to Soho Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
JAMES Bannon’s one man show, Running with the Firm, is returning to Soho Theatre, where it runs from June 3 to June 7, 2014, dates which coincide with the much awaited release of the Running With The Firm paperback on June 6.
Running with the Firm is the shocking and true story of how James Bannon, an undercover cop, infiltrated the notorious Millwall hooligan firm “The Bushwackers”.
It tells of an intense and dangerous journey into the heart of the world of hooliganism, where sickening levels of violence prevail over anything else.
Bannon introduces the hardest thugs from football’s most notorious gangs, tells all about the secret and almost comical police operations that were meant to bring them down, and, how once you’re on the inside, getting out from the mob proves to be the biggest mission of all.
Since its publication in August 2013, Running with the Firm has gone on to become the best-selling true crime book of 2013, became a Sunday Times bestseller in its first week of release, has been the No.1 best-selling book in WH Smith for 13 weeks (as well as the bestselling advance paperback WH Smith airside have had since 50 shades of Grey) selling on average 500 copies a week.
The book is also set to become a major motion picture.
The new Soho dates follow a celebrated four week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013, a sold out show at Soho Theatre in November 2013 and the recent sell out three night run at Soho Theatre in February 2014.
In addition to the dates in Soho, Bannon will also be recounting his acclaimed tale at the Latitude Festival on July 19 at 7.30pm as well as returning to the Edinburgh Fringe for seven days between August 18 and August 24.
Tickets: £15 (£12.50) – available at sohotheatre.com/whats-on/james-bannon-running-with-the-firm.
