Silence - Jack Studio Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
LARGE Print Theatre is presenting Moira Buffini’s Silence, a provocative comedy set in late Dark Ages England, at the Jack Studio Theatre – from March 7 (previews from March 5) to March 23, 2013.
I’ve had similar dreams myself… perhaps they are the inevitable fear of our times, living as we do on the edge of destruction.
The Vikings rule the North and the Saxons the South of the country under the reign of King Ethelred. At the King’s bidding, Ymma, a powerful French princess, is inadvertently married to another woman.
And so begins a millennial road-trip and wildly original love story that remains relevant to our own world a thousand years later.
Silence was winner of The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.
Jon Bradshaw directs a cast that includes Samantha Béart (as Silence), Brigid Lohrey (Ymma), Theo Maggs (Roger), Patrick Neyman (Eadric), Lainey Shaw (Agnés) and Daniel Brennan (Ethelred). Music is by Tom Gray.
