Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
THIS CHRISTMAS, Chickenshed is presenting Sleeping Beauty – Dream On, an entirely fresh and funky new version of a familiar story, at The Rayne Theatre – from November 28, 2012 to January 12, 2013.
Sleeping Beauty – Dream On takes all the familiar and traditional elements of this much-loved fairy tale, and serves them up with a modern twist.
Chickenshed’s professional company will lead a huge cast featuring hundreds of its young members and students as well as its all-ages community theatre groups, to deliver what is described as a fabulously entertaining and exciting extravaganza, with all the verve, vitality and joy that regular audiences have come to know and love.
Written by David Carey and Louise Perry, Sleeping Beauty – Dream On has music and lyrics by Jo Collins, David Carey, Phil Haines and Paul Morrall.
Sign Language will be integrated into every performance. Additional access performances with Captioned, Audio Described and Touch tours are also available.
Sleeping Beauty – Dream On is recommended for general audiences. However for adults who are bringing young people, Chickenshed advise that the show is suitable for those aged 5 and above.
NB: Sleeping Beauty – Dream On is not a ‘pantomime’ in the traditional sense but, according to press material, a magical, fun and festive treat for all the family.
Tickets: from £11 to £20.
Running Time: Appromimately 2 hours (including interval).
