Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Idiot was Katie Mitchell and the company’s inspiration for …some trace of her which opens in the Cottesloe Theatre on July 30, 2008 (previews from July 23) before continuing in repertoire.

A woman lies dead on a bed in her wedding dress, a silver knife through her heart. The two men who loved her lie beside her. This multimedia performance develops the use of live video seen in Mitchell’s 2006/07 ground-breaking production of Waves at the National Theatre.

Mitchell also directs a cast that includes Hattie Morahan and Ben Whishaw.

Morahan’s theatre credits include The Seagull and Iphigenia at Aulis (both at the National): while on television, she has recently appeared as Elinor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility. Whishaw’s theatre work includes The Seagull (National Theatre) and the title role in Hamlet (Old Vic). He will shortly be seen on screen in Brideshead Revisited (as Sebastian Flyte).

Mitchell’s work at the National Theatre includes Women of Troy, Attempts on her Life, Waves, which returns to the Cottesloe Theatre in August ahead of a UK and international tour, The Seagull, Three Sisters, A Dream Play, Iphigenia at Aulis, Ivanov and The Oresteia. Mitchell is an NT Associate.

…some trace of her is designed by Vicki Mortimer, with lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Gareth Fry. Director of photography is Leo Warner .
