Spymonkey’s Cooped - Leicester Square Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
SPYMONKEY return to the West End with Cooped, their ‘deliciously demented’ take on gothic romance, which runs at Leicester Square Theatre from March 18 to March 23, 2013.
Beautiful, fawn-like, but a hostage to love, Laura du Lay arrives in the remote county of Northumberlandhamptonshire to take up her position as confidential secretary to the reclusive Forbes Murdston.
She has ignored for as long as she can the unsettling rumours that surround her new employer, his ominous teutonic manservant Klaus, swarthy-but-sweaty lawyer Roger Parchment and the ancient mansion. But Murdston’s violent mood-swings can only signify one thing…
Spymonkey’s Cooped is directed by Cal McCrystal, comedy director for the National Theatre’s hit One Man Two Guvnors, and performed by Aitor Basauri, Stephan Kreiss, Petra Massey and Toby Park, the creators of the piece.
The band comprises Larry Aberman, Simon Dolan, Eliot Douglass and Peter McCarthy.
Spymonkey’s Cooped is designed by Lucy Bradridge, with lighting by Petter Skramstad and incidental music and sound design by Toby Park.
Tickets: £18 – £22. Available from the box office on 08448 733433 or online at www.leicestersquaretheatre.com/.
