SUS - Lion and Unicorn Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
NEXT SPRING, Dilated Theatre Company is presenting SUS, Barrie Keeffe’s intensely powerfully play, at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre – from March 5 to March 23, 2013.
It’s 1979, the eve of Margaret Thatcher’s landslide victory, and Delroy, a young black man, is brought to an East London Police interview room on what he thinks is SUS. However, two police officers, Karn and Wilby, have other ideas.
SUS, billed as a shocking and disturbing account of overt racism and the abuse of police power, is still powerfully relevant today.
In producing this modern classic, newly formed Dilated Theatre pose the questions: Has anything changed? What are the legacy of the riots of 2011 and where is the legacy of the Olympics that gave us all a summer of hope?
SUS will be directed by Paul Tomlinson.
Tickets £15/£12 – available from the box office on 08444 77 1000 or from Ticketweb.
Times: Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, Saturday at 3.30pm.
