CASTING has been announced for the world premiere of Ruby In The Dust’s production of The Great Gatsby Musical, which runs at the King’s Head Theatre from August 10 (previews from August 7) to September 1, 2012.

In the pivotal roles of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan will be Sean Brown and Matilda Sturridge respectively. They will be joined by Anna Maguire, Barnarby Brookman, Claire-Monique Martin, Jon Gabriel Robbins, Naomi Bullock, Patrick Lannigan, Peta Cornish, Raphael Verrion and Steve Clarke.

In the sizzling heat of a 1920s New York summer, Jay Gatsby is the man who has everything. But one thing will always be out of his reach… Beneath the shimmering surface of his life he is hiding a secret: a silent longing that can never be fulfilled. And soon this destructive obsession will force his world to unravel.

Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel and adapted for stage by Joe Evans and Linnie Reedman, The Great Gatsby Musical is a guest production in the King’s Head Theatre’s summer season 2012.

As well as television’s EastEnders and Red Cap, Sean Brown has appeared in 12 films. Recently, he received critical acclaim for his starring role in the play, This is How It Goes, in Hamburg.

Matilda Sturridge, daughter of film director Charles Sturridge and actress Phoebe Nicholls, has just completed filming on the second series of The Borgias, alongside Jeremy Irons and Steven Berkoff. She played Dorothy in the film FairyTale: A True Story, directed by Charles Sturridge and was seen on television in Agatha Christie’s Poirot (an adaptation of the novel Third Girl) and Midsomer Murders.

The Great Gatsby will be directed by Young Vic Genesis director, Linnie Reedman, with live music composed by award-winning composer Joe Evans.

The production will be designed by Christopher Hone, with costume design by Belle Mundi, lighting by Seth Rook-Williams and choreography by Alyssa Noble. Associate Designer will be Laura Hopkins and Assistant Director Olivia Rowe.
