The Scottsboro Boys to hold open audition for role of Eugene
ON MONDAY, July 28, 2014, the West End transfer of The Scottsboro Boys will hold an open audition at the Pineapple Dance Studios for a young African-American male performer to play the role of Eugene.
Playing age: 13/14. Height: 5’9” or under. Ethnicity: African-American.
Dances well including good tap, plus solid vocal.
Tries to act tough but is still a kid, so must look 14.
Please note – all other roles are now cast.
Applicants must register at the Pineapple Dance Studios, 7 Langley Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9JA at 9am for 10am call or at 1pm for 2pm call. You must be 18 or over by September 1, 2014 to attend.
Register when you arrive on the day, bring a CV and photo.
Be warmed up and ready to dance at call times above.
Bring comfortable movement gear, jazz and tap shoes.
Bring sheet music to 16 bars of a musical theatre song.
The production rehearses in London from September 1, 2014, with the first preview at the Garrick Theatre on October 4, 2014. Contract period is for one year from start of rehearsals.
The Scottsboro Boys, Kander and Ebb’s award-winning and final musical, tells the true story of nine young black men, aged between 12 and 19, travelling on a train through Scottsboro, Alabama in 1931 in search of a new life. By the end of their journey their lives had been changed forever.
Wrongly accused of an unspeakable crime, their trial would divide a nation. But behind the screaming headlines was the devastating story of nine young men, desperate to prove to the world that they mattered.
