The Thrill of Love - St James Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
FOLLOWING runs at the New Vic and Stephen Joseph Theatres, the New Vic’s world premiere production of The Thrill of Love will transfer to St James Theatre, where it will play from March 27 to May 4, 2013.
Ruth Ellis was the last woman to be hanged in Britain, convicted of the coldblooded killing of her unfaithful lover.
Directed by James Dacre (the Olivier Award-winning The Mountaintop), this gripping new play by Amanda Whittington, author of the hugely popular Be My Baby, takes a new look at the real woman behind the headlines and at the events that drive her to murder.
The cast includes Faye Castelow (Nijinsky, Chichester Festival Theatre) as Ruth Ellis, Katie West (Punk Rock, Lyric Hammersmith) as Doris Judd, Hilary Tones (Swallows and Amazons, national tour) as Sylvia Shaw and Maya Wasovicz (Faith Machine, Royal Court) as Vickie Martin.
Although the role of Inspector Gale will be played by Mark Meadows at the New Vic and Stephen Joseph Theatres, it will be re-cast for the St James run.
The Thrill of Love will be designed by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Daniella Beattie and sound by James Earls-Davis.
Our Country’s Good continues its extended run at St James Theatre until Saturday, March 23, 2013.
