Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
MARTI Pellow will star as Darryl Van Horne in The Witches of Eastwick, which visits New Wimbledon Theatre – from September 30 to October 4, 2008 – as part of a UK tour.
When three desperate housewives in mid town America wish for the man of their dreams they get far more than they bargain for. In fact, all hell breaks loose when Darryl Van Horne arrives in their sleepy town.
Described as a bewitching musical and based on the Warner Brothers motion picture starring Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher, The Witches of Eastwick was first seen at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in the year 2000, with Ian McShane, Maria Friedman, Joanna Riding and Lucie Arnaz in the leading roles.
The Witches of Eastwick has book and lyrics by John Dempsey and Dana Rowe, and the score includes Eastwick Knows, Dirty Laundry, Dance with the Devil, Make Him Mine and I Love a Little Town.
Pellow made his name as lead singer of Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet, which had a string of multi-platinum singles and albums, including Love Is All Around which topped the UK chart for 15 weeks. More recently, he has starred as corrupt lawyer Billy Flynn in both the London and Broadway productions of Chicago.
And later this month, he will appear alongside Josh Groban and Idina Menzel in the 21st Anniversary concert production of Chess.
