The Woman in Black - new cast from April 6
THE Woman in Black, Stephen Mallatratt’s stage adaptation of Susan Hill’s novel, is to have a new cast.
On April 6, Michael Mears (All’s Well That Ends Well, Nation, Harper Regan, National Theatre) takes over from Julian Forsyth as Arthur Kipps, while Orlando Wells (The History Boys, West End) replaces Christopher Naylor as The Actor.
A lawyer is obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black. To help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul, he engages a young actor.
It all begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds. The borders between make believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins to creep….
The two-hander is directed by Robin Herford, designed by Michael Holt and has lighting by Kevin Sleep.
Now in its 21st year, The Woman in Black has been seen by seven million people and is currently booking at the Fortune Theatre until December 18, 2010.
