The Wrong Ffion Jones

AFTER the success of Ugly Lovely in 2016, Ffion Jones has teamed up with her funny friend, Rhys Bevan, to whip up a one-woman show about a topic close to her heart.

The Wrong Ffion Jones, which plays at the VAULT Festival from February 20 to February 24, 2019, is a comedic commentary on national identity, capitalism and an accidental rebel.

What is it to be Welsh?… The same quotes and catchphrases? Over and over again? I don’t think I can bear it… If we’re true Welsh people then we’ve got to be rebels. Where’s our rebellion? Where’s our uprising, do you know what I mean, butt?

Jones has a unique voice that enjoys blending real social issues with comedic absurdism. This play is set in a shamelessly silly future, painted and described with Jones’ physicality and carefully crafted words but through use of projected images and sound we are also reminded of reality.

Ffion Jones (writer/performer) is a Welsh actor, writer and comedy Improviser. Her debut play, Ugly Lovely, received rave reviews, has been read on Broadway and is currently being developed into a six part TV show. Jones regularly performs with her team, The Last Supper, and when she’s not appearing as a wounded chav on Holby City she is also a dramaturg of new writing.

Rhys Bevan (director) is an English actor, writer and comedian. He and the rest of Laughing Stock received 5 star reviews and won the SketchFest Audience Choice award for their sketch show shown across Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre. This will be his first time directing.

Pippa Davis (producer) is an emerging producer with experience from Shakespeare’s Globe and Theatre 503. She has also previously worked at Battersea Arts Centre, Gate Theatre and Hampstead Theatre.
