Thriller Live - young stars revealed

Lizzie Guilfoyle

FOLLOWING a nationwide search and open call auditions, three 13-year-old boys have won the coveted role singing the hits of the young Michael Jackson in Thriller Live, which opens at the West End’s Lyric Theatre on January 21, 2009 (previews from January 2).

They are Layton Williams, the first black Billy Elliot and second longest-running star in the show’s history; Sterling Williams, who played young Simba in the West End production of The Lion King; and newcomer Kieran Alleyne.

Alleyne’s only stage experience – until he performed a specially choreographed version of I Want you Back on the Lyric stage with the two Williams boys – was playing Michael Jackson in a school tribute production called Thriller.

The three boys will alternate the role.

Thriller Live celebrates the career of Michael Jackson and features the hits I Want You Back, I’ll Be There, Show You the Way to Go, Can You Feel It, Rock with You, She’s Out of My Life, Thriller, Beat It, Ben, ABC, Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana, Billie Jean, Earth Song and many more.

Thriller Live is booking until April 12, 2009.
