We're Going on a Bear Hunt - Duchess Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
A STAGE adaptation of Michael Rosen’s popular picture book, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, will be performed at the Duchess Theatre from July 9 to August 16, 2009.
First published in 1989, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt follows a family’s excitement as they wade, splash and squelch through a variety of imaginative environments in search of a bear. It is suitable for children aged three and over.
The production, which was first seen last month at the Bristol Old Vic, will be directed by Sally Cookson and designed by Katie Sykes. It also features a score by Benji Bower.
Rosen is the author of over 140 books, many of them for children, and is the current Children’s Poet Laureate.
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt follows in the footsteps of The Gruffalo which was presented as a daytime show at the Duchess Theatre over the Christmas period.
Times: Tuesdays to Fridays at 11am, Saturdays at 10.30am and 12pm, and Sundays at 11am and 1.30pm.
Evening performances will continue as normal with Ronald Harwood’s two World War Two plays, Taking Sides and Collaboration.
