THE STAGE adaptation of Michael Rosen’s popular picture book, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, is returning to the West End, this time to the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, where it runs from July 3 to September 1, 2013 (daytime slot).
First published in 1989, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt follows a family’s excitement as they wade, splash and squelch through a variety of imaginative environments in search of a bear. It is suitable for children aged three and over.
Sally Cookson directs a cast that includes Duncan Foster (who created the character and has been playing it since the show began) as Dad; Rowena Lennon (The Railway Children) as Daughter; Gareth Warren (Birmingham Stage Company’s Danny the Champion of the World) as Son; Ben Harrison (Illyria Theatre Company’s The Mowgli Stories) as Dog/Musician and newcomer Gavin Swift.
Michael Rosen is a British broadcaster, children’s novelist and poet and the author of 140 books. He was appointed as the fifth Children’s Laureate in June 2007.
The Lyric Theatre is currently home to Thriller – Live.
