We Will Rock You has extended its booking period yet again, this time, until October 6, 2007.

Previously Posted: Although We Will Rock You posted final closing notices for October 2006, it has now extended booking until April 26, 2007.

In a statement explaining the change of plan, producer Phil McIntyre said: “The fact is, the show has proved such a continuing draw with both the home market and visitors to London, that it became obvious that a move this year would be premature.”

And he added: “Besides which, the theatre owners very much wanted us to stay. In the end, they, and the public, made the decision for us.”

Previously Posted: The Queen/Ben Elton musical, We Will Rock You, will close on October 7, 2006, after four and a half years at the West End’s Dominion Theatre.

It premiered in April 2002 and although the majority of critics hated it, the public loved it. So much so, in fact, that it has become the longest-running show in the history of the Dominion Theatre.

The action takes place in a futuristic world where rock music is banned. There are, however, those who believe there was once a Golden Age of music…...

The show features 32 of Queen’s greatest hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Under Pressure, Radio Gaga and, of course, the title song We Will Rock You.

According to reports, the London production will close in preparation for a full UK tour which is expected to begin in mid-November. However, a return to the capital at some future date has not been ruled out.

Although as yet, no further productions have been announced for the Dominion, the 2000-seat theatre would be an ideal venue for the stage musical version of The Lord of the Rings which premieres in Toronto in March.
