Wicked - cast changes

FROM Monday, July 16, 2007, Oliver Tompsett will take over the role of Fiyero from Adam Garcia and Andy Mace will replace Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond in the hit musical Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
At the same time, Cassidy Janson and Sarah Earnshaw will be the standby Elphaba and Glinda.
Meanwhile Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Susie Blake (Madame Morrible), Nigel Planer (The Wizard), James Gillan (Boq) and Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose) have all extended their contracts.
Previously Posted: From Monday, July 16, 2007, the role of Glinda in the award-winning musical Wicked at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, will be played by Dianne Pilkington.
Pilkington has just completed a year long engagement playing Grizabella in the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.
Her other theatre credits include The Far Pavilions (as Belinda) at the Shaftesbury Theatre; Tonight’s the Night (as Mary) at the Victoria Palace; and the national tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (as Belle).
She also appeared as Kim in the original cast of Boy George’s musical Taboo at The Venue, and as Snow White opposite Lily Savage in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, also at the Victoria Palace.
Helen Dallimore will play her final performance as Glinda on Saturday, July 14, 2007. The actress has been invited to reprise the role in the 2008 Australian premiere production of the musical.
As well as Dallimore, the current cast includes Kerry Ellis as Elphaba, Adam Garcia as Fiyero, Miriam Margolyes as Madame Morrible, Nigel Planer as The Wizard, Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond, James Gillan as Boq and Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose.
From Monday, April 2, 2007, the role of Madame Morrible will be played by Susie Blake.
The five international productions of Wicked – in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, US National Tour and London – have now grossed over half a billion dollars at the Box Office. And two new productions are due to open this year – in Japan and Stuttgart.

Blake’s numerous television credits include Victoria Wood’s As Seen on TV and Coronation Street, in which she played Beverley (Bev) Unwin for four years.
Her recent theatre work includes Michael Frayn’s Noises Off (as Belinda Blair) at the National Theatre, on national tour and at the Piccadilly Theatre; and the national tour of High Society (as Mother Lord).
Meanwhile, Miriam Margolyes will appear as Madame Morrible for the last time on Saturday, March 31, 2007.

For the week ending December 30, 2006, it played nine performances and not only set a new West End record but also grossed £873,020 – a new house record.
It has already been seen by over a quarter of a million theatregoers since its first public performance on September 7, 2006, grossing almost £10 million at the Box Office in just over 16 weeks.

Idina Menzel, who performed the role on Broadway, opened in the London production in September 2006.
Prior to joining the original London cast of Wicked, Ellis played Fantine in Boublil and Schönberg’s musical Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre and Ellen in the national tour of Miss Saigon.
She created the role of Meat in the original London cast of the Queen/Ben Elton musical We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre and took part in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace.
In 2001, she understudied the role of Eliza Doolittle in Trevor Nunn’s production of Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady both at the National Theatre and Drury Lane, on many occasions playing the role opposite Jonathan Pryce.
Her other credits include the national tour of Magic of the Musicals and Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along (as Mary) at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
Wicked tells the incredible story of an extraordinary friendship between two girls – the blond and popular Glinda and the misunderstood green girl, Elphaba, whose destiny is to become the Wicked Witch of the West.
From January 1, 2007, the principal London cast of Wicked includes Kerry Ellis as Elphaba, Helen Dallimore as Glinda, Adam Garcia as Fiyero, Miriam Margolyes as Madame Morrible, Nigel Planer as The Wizard, Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond, James Gillan as Boq and Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose.
