Wicked - Lee Mead joins cast

Lee Mead as Joseph

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

ON MAY 10, 2010, Lee Mead returns to the West End stage when he takes over the role of Fiyero in the hit musical Wicked, which is currently booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre until October 30, 2010.

Mead will be joining former I’d Do Anything contestant Rachel Tucker and Louise Dearman, who join the cast as Elphaba and Glinda on March 29, 2010.

Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, and how one came to be called ‘good’ and the other ‘wicked’.

Mead became a household name when he appeared in BBC TV’s Any Dream Will Do, in which he won the title role in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

He had previously appeared as Pharaoh and Brother Levi in the touring production of Joseph and performed in the ensembles of The Phantom of the Opera, in which he understudied the role of Raoul, and Miss Saigon, in which he again understudied a leading role – Chris.

His other credits include Tommy, the touring production of Abigail’s Party (as Laurence) and Geri Halliwell’s It’s Raining Men video (as a dancer). He is currently starring in the touring production of Oscar Wilde’s Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime, which visits Richmond Theatre from February 8 to February 13, 2010.

And from March 29 to May 8, the role of Fiyero will be played by another Any Dream Will Do contestant, Lewis Bradley, who took over the role of Joseph while Mead was on holiday.
