Wicked - Rachel Tucker joins cast

Wicked

Lizzie Guilfoyle

ON MARCH 29, 2010, former I’d Do Anything contestant Rachel Tucker will take over the role of Elphaba from Alexia Khadime in the hit musical Wicked, which is currently booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre until October 30, 2010.

Tucker will be joined by Louise Dearman, who replaces Diane Pilkington as Glinda.

Of the final twelve competing for the role of Nancy in Cameron Mackintosh’s revival of Oliver!, Tucker was the ninth to leave the show.

However, prior to I’d Do Anything, she had already appeared professionally on stage in Rod Stewart’s Tonight’s the Night (West End), as well as Rent, The Wizard of Oz and The Full Monty. More recently, she starred as Meat in the hit Queen musical We Will Rock You at London’s Dominion Theatre.

Dearman has played lead roles in UK tours of Evita, Guys And Dolls and Jekyll And Hyde.

Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, and how one came to be called ‘good’ and the other ‘wicked’.

Additional cast changes are expected to be announced shortly. Meanwhile, Harriet Thorpe continues as Madame Morrible, with Oliver Tompsett (Fiyero) and Sam Kelly (The Wizard).
