Wicked welcomes its six millionth theatregoer

Theatre news

ON THURSDAY, July 24, 2014, award-winning musical Wicked welcomed its six millionth theatregoer to London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre. Owen Thomas attended the performance with Stephanie Willingham, both from Bury St. Edmonds, and enjoyed a backstage visit with the cast after the show.

Two extra shows have been added this summer, on Thursday, August 21 and Thursday, August 28 at 2.30pm. For general best availability, choose Tuesday and Wednesday performances.

Recently acclaimed as “one of the country’s strongest and most enduringly popular shows” (Harper’s Bazaar, June 2014), the London production of the global musical phenomenon is now the 10th longest running show in the West End.

While continuing its open-ended London run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, the spectacular UK tour of Wicked is playing until the summer of 2015.

Based on the international best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
