World's End - Trafalgar Studio 2
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
FOLLOWING its success at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival, Paul Sellar’s World’s End transfers to the West End – to Trafalgar Studio 2 where it runs from Wednesday, February 20 to Saturday, March 8, 2008.
Kat is moving out of the flat she has shared with her boyfriend, Ben. Helping Kat with the move are her best friend, Thea, and Josh, the new man in her life. Ben was not meant to be there. But he is. And he’s hurt and angry. He’s still in love with Kat but will he tell her? And is it too late now anyway?
Sensitively and honestly observed, World’s End is described as a beautifully sad, painfully funny study of love and loss.
Guy Retallack directs a cast that includes Monica Bertei (Thea), Jamie Belman (Josh) and Merryn Owen (Ben) who was nominated for Best Actor in The Stage Awards following the play’s Edinburgh premiere.
Retallack’s credits include Glyn Maxwell’s The Lifeblood; Faster; National Hero (with Timothy West and Nicola Macauliffe); Bill Kenwright’s Tommy, which was nominated for Best Musical by The Manchester Evening News Awards 2005; The Secret Rapture, Office Games and Emma (with Doon Mackickan) which was nominated for Best Ensemble by the Stage.
Sellar’s last play, the critically acclaimed 2Graves, transferred from Edinburgh to re-launch the Arts Theatre in London’s West End in November 2006. His other plays include The Bedsit and Cell 159, also known as The Dead Move Fast.
World’s End is presented by Andy Jordan Productions whose previous work includes 2Graves, Lies Have Been Told: An Evening with Robert Maxwell, Rosebud: The Lives of Orson Welles (co-produced with Steven Berkoff) and Picasso’s Women (co-produced with Assembly Theatre and ATG).
