Zanna Don’t! - Landor Theatre

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

ENTOURAGE Productions are presenting a London revival of the American musical comedy Zanna Don’t! at the Landor Theatre – from June 5 (previews from June 3) to June 29, 2014.

Welcome to Heartsville High, a world where everyone is gay – well, almost everyone! The big man on campus is a chess champion, and the captain of the football team is made cool by being cast as the lead in the school musical.

The students write a controversial show called “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” about straight people in the military, which becomes the catalyst for a young man and woman to fall in love. Enter Zanna, a magical, musical fairy who, with a wave of his wand, brings true love to one and all!

David Ribi stars as Zanna, with Ceris Hine as Kate and Jennifer Saayeng as Roberta.

David Ribi recently appeared in the UK Tour of Hairspray and played the lead role of Bobby in Dreamboats and Petticoats at Wyndham’s Theatre and on tour. Ceris Hine recently appeared in Ushers: The Front of House Musical at Charing Cross Theatre, as well as UK Tours of The Rocky Horror Show and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. And Jennifer Saayeng recently appeared in the critically acclaimed production of The Color Purple at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

The cast also includes Jonathan Dudley (Titanic, Scrooge) as Mike, Liam Christopher Lloyd (Damn Yankees) as Steve, Carol Heffernan as Candi, Jonathan Wooldridge as Arvin, Thomas Wright and Georgia Phillips as featured ensemble, and Ben Sell as Tank and Zanna at certain performances.

Zanna Don’t! has music by Tim Acito and book and lyrics by Tim Acito and Alexander Dinelaris. It is directed by Drew Baker, with choreography by Holly Hughes, musical supervision by Benjamin Holder and musical direction by Isaac McCullough.
