Feature: Jack Foley

AustraliaLIFE, the celebratory London event to be held from January 28 to 30, 2005, will host free lessons to anybody who would like to try their hand with the Didgeridoo.

This lively and entertaining three-day festival will provide a welcome glimpse of colour at a bleak time of year, offering as it does a chance to taste foods and wines and to discover something of the travel and intrigue behind the vibrant country of Australia.

Exhibitors include a host of wineries; Brown Brothers, Nepenthe, Yellowtail, Wakefield, Penfolds, Wynns, Lindemanns, Rosemount, Cullen Wines, Yalumba, Peter Lehman, Wolf Blass and Andrew Peace, to name but a few.

There will be also be delicious award winning pasta from Bellata Gold, such as Lemon Myrtle, Hot Chilli, Garlic Basil and Celery.

Organised by the leading magazine, Wine International, AustraliaLIFE takes place at Lord’s Cricket Ground Nursery Pavilion.

A programme of Masterclasses and Theatre workshops will be taking place at which consumers will have the chance to learn from leading winemakers, producers of indigenous foods, spices and oils, and hear from Matt Cameron Smith, of Tourism Australia, about wine trails, sights and adventures.

Maybe you would like to hear about the ‘Viognier Monologues’ from Yalumba winemaker, Jane Ferrari?

Or learn about the developments or organic and bio-dynamic wines from Vanya Cullen, of Cullen Wines, from the Margaret River? The Australian Wine Bureau is also to host a Masterclass on 'New Australian Classics'.

In another special area of the pavilion there will be a whole showcase on travel opportunities in Australia, with staff on hand from Qantas Holidays to offer expert advice on tours and independent travel.

Touch-sensitive screens will provide glimpses of Australia’s colourful countryside and exotic landscape, mixed with images of the vibrant city living and sporting life.

Another zone will host a restaurant, catered by renowned Australian chef Scott Webster, of Osia fame.
