Face to Face with apes at the Natural History Museum

Feature: Lizzie Guilfoyle

AN EXHIBITION of extraordinary images of apes by James Mollison, entitled Face to Face, runs at the Natural History Museum's Jerwood Gallery until September 18, 2005.

Exhibited for the first time, these beautiful and emotive ape portraits highlight the vitality and intelligence of these magnificent and endangered animals and their similarity to man - all within the context of Charles Darwin's theories of human evolution.

The exhibition also focuses attention on man's relationship with and treatment of the natural world.

And a series of events will give visitors the chance to further develop the ideas explored in the exhibition.

Opening times: Monday to Saturday 10am-5.30pm; Sunday 11am-5.30pm.

Admission: free
