Be creative at the River & Rowing
Museum

Story: Jack Foley BE CREATIVE and learn some new skills at the River & Rowing Museum's Saturday morning workshops for adults, ranging from Papier Mâché Art to Fly Tying. Courses on offer include: l Take a tour of the enchanting
exhibition 'Everyday Images' to inspire ideas in papier mâché.
Papier Mâché Art runs over two sessions; make your
work in the first week and decorate it in the second week. Bring
your own overalls. l Participate in a Narrative Writing
workshop to kick-start your ideas in anything from fiction, poetry,
memoir or playscript. Taking scenes from the colourful 'Everyday
Images' exhibition, have fun developing the undiscovered stories
waiting in your imagination! l The Big Draw, part of a UK-wide
event encouraging everyone to draw. Suitable for all the family,
this drop in activity based on the exhibition 'Everyday Images'
is suitable for all ages to have a go at drawing a representation
of their family. l Learn to tie trout and salmon
flies and learn the various techniques required to fish with them
with Ian Hockley. This Fly-Tying workshop is suitable for all
levels of ability and takes place over a course of three morning
sessions. l Get ready for Christmas with this Writing and Image: Winter Light workshop. Make your own set of six screen-printed cards that explore associations with light in winter. Saturday, December 6, 10am - 12.30pm. |
Following the workshops, why not take a break in the Riverside Café for a reviving cup of tea, coffee or one of the many snacks or meals on offer. There is also a children's menu and a variety of daily specials. The lunch menu is served between 12 and 3pm. As places on the workshops are limited and fill up rapidly, you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
