CLIVE Owen has seen his odds cut dramatically to play James Bond
since winning a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in Closer.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes and William Hill both believe his awards
success could place him back in the running for the 007 role -
although he is still not the favourite.
That honour is currently with Australian star, Hugh Jackman,
who is 2/1 to play the world's most popular secret agent.

"He certainly appears to be
the punters choice but we've seen more twists than the average
Bond movie," confirmed a Ladbrokes spokesman as the betting
intensified.
The X-Men star is certainly keen
to take on the role and has even been campaigning to do so, having
long been a fan of the franchise.
If successful, he would become the second Australian to play
the character, following George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret
Service.
Also in the running, however, are joint second favourites, Ewan
McGregor and Colin Farrell - although the latter has been quoted
as saying he wouldn't be interested in the role.
William Hill went on to admit, however, that if Owen triumphed
in the best supporting actor category at the Oscars next month
'he will be our arch enemy'.
