The Da Vinci Code will be directed
by Ron Howard, who made Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind, and filming
is due to begin later this year.
The thriller is already one of the most anticipated films of
next year, given the notoriety surrounding the book, which involves
a conspiracy surrounding the true nature of The Holy Grail.
Hanks will take on the lead role of Dr Robert Langdon, the primary
investigator, while Tautou will play his partner, Sophie Neveu.
The book has already sold more than 17 million copies world-wide
and is expected to sell even more as interest heightens around
the movie.
It has already spawned numerous spin-offs relating to some of
the locations featured in the book, while the Catholic Church,
itself, has been keen to undermine some of its claims.
