Story by: Jack Foley
ROB Reiner is to direct the update of The Graduate, starring
Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Costner, after first-time director,
Ted Griffin, pulled out.
The project, which is going by the name untitled Warner Bros
romantic comedy, has been scripted by Griffin and concerns a young
woman (Aniston) who discovers that her grandmother, played by
Shirley MacLaine, was the basis for the character of Mrs Robinson,
in the 1967 film, The Graduate.

The cast also includes Costner, Mark
Ruffalo (13 Going on 30/Collateral)
and American Pie star,
Mena Suvari.
The reason for Griffin's departure remains unclear, although
one source is quoted as suggesting that it could have been because
the new director was spending too much time on shots with his
cinematographer.
Although another source claimed lighting of the actresses was
an issue- but the studio has declined to comment.
Reiner, who has previously directed When Harry Met Sally, as
well as Alex & Emma and The Story of Us, has a good track
record for directing romantic comedies.
Griffin, meanwhile, will remain as screenwriter, it seems, having
established a name for himself with writing credits on Ocean's
11, the upcoming Ocean's 12,
Best Laid Plans, and Matchstick
Men.
