Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire - New cast members interviewed

Compiled by: Jack Foley

Q: I’d like to ask the newcomers what it was like to join this very successful production?
Robert Pattinson:
It was a great experience; I’ve never done anything like this before. The scale and the budget and the sets. Everything about it was an incredible, epic experience. It was a great year.
Clémence Poésy: I don’t have much to add really. It was the first time that I found myself in such a big movie. We’ve all been welcomed in a very friendly and warm way and it has made things easier for us.
Katie Leung: I had a really incredible experience as well like the rest of these guys. Just being able to make new friends and no words can describe it. It’s just been amazing.
Stanislav Ianevski: I think it’s fantastic to be able to be part of such a huge project. I’ve enjoyed every single moment of it and I hope to be able to experience it again some time in the future.

Q. I read somewhere that you and Daniel Radcliffe were supposed to kiss each other. Was that ever meant to happen, or did you go off each other?
Katie Leung: Well it wasn’t in the book, so I don’t understand why people got that wrong and started making up rumours. It doesn’t happen in the book so obviously it wouldn’t happen in the film. That’s the big thing that happens in the fifth one, so it would have been wasted if it was put in the fourth film.

Q. What reaction have you had back in your homeland, Bulgaria, to your being cast in a Harry Potter film?
Stanislav Ianevski: Bulgaria isn’t a very big country and it’s not very well known around the world. Harry Potter means a lot to the country and I’ve been praised as a little hero over there. I personally thought that I would feel like a new school boy in a new school entering the Harry Potter World but as I said earlier we were extremely warmly welcomed and we got to know each other really soon.
I gained confidence really quick and with the help of Mike I proceeded. We went in to the maze right at the beginning and it became like part of my life straight away. I really enjoyed everything.

Q. What is it like coming in to such an established thing as Harry Potter?
Katie Leung:
I’ve had such an enjoyable experience. Before all this happened I was just a typical school girl. I was really, really shy at school and being in this has brought out so much confidence in me. I’m more outspoken, more outgoing and I think that’s probably been the greatest achievement for me.
Clémence Poésy: It was great. We were all very friendly and welcomed. Mike wanted us to know each other a bit before we started filming so we had a couple of weeks workshop all together so that we didn’t feel shy starting to act in front of each other. It’s been amazing.
Robert Pattinson: You’re always a little bit worried entering a new environment but it’s a job as well. It doesn’t really matter if you make friends or not, it just so happens that everyone’s kind of made friends by the end of it which is nice.
