Q. Does the hotel from the film actually exist?
A. Yes and it's run by some very strange people. Sylvester
Stallone stayed there while he was shooting 'Rambo'.
Q. Minnie Driver's character is constantly looking for somewhere
to have a cigarette, is this in the book?
A. It is in the book, but I embellished it as I was trying
to stop smoking at the time, so I added the idea to a few more
Q. Have you given up?
A. Err, No.
Q. It seemed to rain a lot in the film?
A. Yes, we were faced with an abnormally wet autumn in British
Columbia. On one of the few days we did have sun, we had to recreate
rain, so it matched up with a scene we'd already shot.
Q. Heather Graham's character strips in one scene, which was
tactfully shot so nothing was shown, was this a conscious decision
to get a 12 certificate?
A. No, Heather has been in a couple of films where she's taken
off her clothes, and she didn't want to in this. She even had
plasters covering her nipples, so Colin put some on his!
Colin Firth: I've been on set when an actress has been
talked into taking off her clothes, and, years later, it's still
mentioned... like Glenda Jackson.
