Keanu Reeves awarded at World Stunt Awards

Story by: Jack Foley

KEANU Reeves is to be honoured as best action movie star at the World Stunt Awards, for his work on movies such as The Matrix trilogy, Speed and Point Break.

Stunt performers in the US have opted to recognise the movie star with an honorary award for consistently displaying an ability to learn from the stunt teams on any film he has taken part in.

Gernot Friedhuber, executive producer of the awards, explained: "Keanu's work with The Matrix trilogy was some of the best from an actor of his generation.

"He has consistently shown an ability to learn from the stunt teams on his many films and has expressed a genuine interest in the field of stunt work."

Reeves, 39, will be presented with the accolade at the annual World Stunt Awards ceremony, in Los Angeles, on May 16 - which will be presented by former Baywatch star, Carmen Electra, and Dennis Hopper.

Other categories in the stunt equivalent of the Oscars include best fight, best fire stunt and best work with a vehicle.

Nominees have this year been selected from 19 films, including Kill Bill: Volume 1, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Bad Boys II and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
