FOR Fockers sake! No sooner has Ben Stiller been celebrating
his return to the top of the US Box Office with Along Came Polly,
then he is equally cock-a-hoop at securing his choice of father
to appear in the follow-up comedy to his acclaimed, Meet
The Parents.
Dustin Hoffman has, according to reports, confirmed that he will
appear as Stillers father in the sequel, Meet The Fockers,
which will find him as the laidback counterpart to Robert De Niros
father from hell in the original.
The film will reportedly pick up where the original left off,
with the uptight Jack Byrnes (De Niro) having given his blessing
to the wedding of Greg Focker (Stiller) to his daughter Pam.

The ensuing comedy will find the two sets of in-laws meeting
for the first time, and, no doubt, causing more speed-bumps on
the path towards marital bliss.
Filming is due to begin at the end of March, after De Niro wraps
up shooting his current project, Hide and Seek, a thriller about
a widower, who tries to piece together his life in the wake of
his wife's suicide, as his daughter finds solace in an imaginary
friend.
It is then hoped that Meet the Fockers can be completed in time
for a Christmas release in the States, and a UK debut soon after.
Not everything is complete, in terms of casting, however, as
Stiller is still hoping to secure the signature of first-choice
mother, Barbra Streisand, although the actress has yet to
indicate whether she would be interested.
