Set in the year 2057, when the Sun is dying and mankind faces extinction, Sunshine follows the fortunes of the crew of Icarus II, a spacecraft crewed by eight men and women who represent the planet’s last hope. Led by Captain Kaneda, their mission is to deliver a nuclear device designed to reignite our fading sun. But deep into their voyage, while out of radio contact with Earth, the crew hear a distress beacon from the Icarus I, which disappeared on the same mission seven years earlier.
