Fairplay - unannounced guests revealed

By Toby Gregory

CHRIS Martin and Jon Buckland (of Coldplay) will be headlining the FairPlay concert at London's Astoria on Tuesday (October 29, 2002), with Noel Gallagher doing an acoustic set (full line-up at bottom of press release),so be prepared for plenty of surprise collaborations on the night!

In February this year, Emily Eavis, the organiser of Glastonbury, accompanied Coldplay's Chris Martin on a trip to the Caribbean to see how some of the money the annual music festival raises for Oxfam is spent, and to support the charity's campaign to make trade fair.

When she returned home, she wanted to do something more for the farmers she had met. So she's organised a gig away from Glastonbury for the first time.

FairPlay is indoors, it's in London, and you won't be allowed to camp or light any fires, but it will still have the same spirit as the summer festival.

Think of it as an autumnal festival fix. Or just agree that it's time to wake up and smell the coffee.

FairPlay: October 29, The Astoria, Charing Cross Rd, London W1. Doors, 7pm

(All acoustic sets)

Special appearances will also be made by Zane Lowe (MTV/XfM), with Nick Frost and Simon Pegg (of TV's Spaced). Tickets cost £20 and are available from maketradefair.com or from Ticketline: 020 7344 0044
