Gomez announce tour to support new album

Story: Jack Foley

GOMEZ are pleased to announce the dates of their first UK tour for 18 months.

The tour, to support their forthcoming fourth album, Split The Difference in May, will visit London's Hammersmith Apollo on Thursday, May 27.

A straight-forward (in Gomez terms) down the line rock 'n' roll album, Split The Difference is said to ooze layer upon layer of bluesy rock riffs, and trademark vocal harmonies.

The national dates will be a great way of showcasing the new material to thousands of fans.

Dates are as follows:

May
Sun 23 - Manchester Academy
Mon 24 - Glasgow Barrowlands
Tues 25 - Nottingham Rock City
Thurs 27 - London Hammersmith Apollo
Fri 28 - Birmingham Academy
Sat 29 - Truro Hall Of Cornwall
Sun 30 - Southampton Guildhall
Mon 31 - Bristol Academy

For the past 18 months, Gomez have hid themselves away in their own studio, in the dreary Sussex town of Portslade.

Perhaps not the most rock 'n' roll setting to write new material in, but then again, Gomez have never done things the conventional way.

In that time though, around 50 songs surfaced from the sessions; 13 of which now happily make up the composition for this their fourth album.

For Split The Difference, they've also recruited the help of Tchad Blake, who's worked with everyone from Tom Waits to Crowded House. The result? A straight-forward (in Gomez terms) down the line rock 'n' roll album, oozing layer upon layer of bluesy rock riffs, and trademark vocal harmonies.

The first fruit to be released from Split The Difference is current single Catch Me Up, which is out on March 8, through Hut Recordings.
