Story: Jack Foley
MARTINA Topley-Bird released her eagerly awaited debut solo album,
Quixotic, on July 14.
Ranging from ambient ballads to swamp-boogie, from shattering
rock to brutal electronica, Quixotic looks set to re-establish
Martina as an essential voice on the musical landscape.
In the mid 90's, with her then musical partner, Tricky, Martina
redefined music with the highly acclaimed Maxinquaye album
followed by the Nearly God, Pre-Millennium tension and
Angels With Dirty Faces LP's.
Featuring production credits from the likes of David Holmes (Too
Tough To Die) and Tricky (Ragga), Quixotic also features
string arrangements from David Arnold (of James Bond and Bjork
fame) on Days Of A Gun and guitars and backing vocals
by Queens of the Stone Ages Josh Homme and Mark Lanegan
on debut single, Need One.
