The Pixies announce new greatest hits album

Story: Jack Foley

HOT off the back of their sold-out tour dates, the newly-reformed The Pixies have decided to release a new Greatest Hits collection, entitled, Wave of Mutilation.

The 23-track compilation will be available from May 3, just after the band's reunion debut at the Coachella Festival, in California, on May 1.

The collective will span The Pixies' five-year career, from 1987 to 1992, as well as the mini-album, Come On Pilgrim, as well as B-sides, the live favourite, Into The White, and the band's cover of Neil Young's Winterlong.

A DVD, entitled ‘Pixies’, will also be released, including The Pixies' set at London's Town And Country Club, in 1988, all eight of their rarely seen promotional videos (including Monkey Gone to Heaven, Here Comes Your Man and Head On) and backstage, behind-the-scenes footage of The Pixies' 1989 European tour.

A Gouge documentary, tracing the Pixies' story, and featuring interviews with the likes of David Bowie, Bono, Thom Yorke and Graham Coxon, is also included.
