Story: Jack Foley
A PLACEBO fan from South Africa has made the promotional video
for the band's latest single, English Summer Rain.
Gregoire Pinard - part-time director and full-time Placebo fan
- dedicated six months of his spare time towards creating the
intricate animation.
Seeing the band's set at Reading Festival, in August 2003, inspired
Gregoire to make the video - which includes modelling clay puppets
of the band performing.
Everything in the video was made by hand, 'from the 127 books
on the bookshelf, to the working bass drum pedal' on Steve's model
drumkit!

The band were so happy with the final result that they wanted
to use the video to promote their reworked version of English
Summer Rain, which is released through Hut Recordings on February
23.
It is the fourth single to be lifted from their acclaimed fourth
album, Sleeping With Ghosts, which has now sold over 1.1
million copies worldwide.
The single precedes the release of a full length DVD, recorded
at a sold-out Bercy, in Paris, in front of 18,000 people.
Entitled Placebo - Soulmates Never Die - Live In Paris,
the DVD will be released March 15.
It includes additional documentary footage of the band on the
road throughout 2003 as they undertook their mammoth world tour.
