Shed 7 to disband after current tour (2003)

Story: Jack Foley

SHED Seven have announced they will disband at the end of their current UK tour.

Rick Witter said that the split did not come without a great deal of thought by the whole of the band.

He maintained that they have taken the decision together and that all of the band members fully agree that the time is right to move on.

In a statement on the Shed 7 website, he says: "Although we feel that certain aspects of the music industry have put a strain on the recording side of things in recent years, the one thing that has remained consistent throughout has been the bands love of performing live and their ability to please the fans by giving 100% every time.

"This is exactly what we plan to do
at these last remaining shows, making a special effort to play what
people want to hear.

"This means all the obvious fave's, plus some lost gems that we, perhaps, haven't played in a long time.

"It will be a celebration, a retrospective, a Shed Seven tour to remember."

The Sheds would like to thank each and every fan for their phenomenal
support over the years.

However, in a further twist to the news, the band has also had to issue a plea to fans to stop sending hate mail to their record label.

A second statement reads: "It has been brought to our attention that Taste Media have received a number of abusive emails following our announcement that Shed Seven will split at the end of the year.

"We wish to point out that, altough Taste's reluctance to move forward with the songs already written may have been a factor in our decision to split, it was by no means the only one. It should be noted that Taste did not agree with our decision to call it a day.

"Although we appreciate the many messages of support we've received in recent days, we must ask that you do not vent your anger/frustration towards the record company.

"The band/label relationship is not always an easy one, but Taste have been supportive towards Shed Seven and we do not condone any abusive comments made towards them."
