Screen heart-throb to star on London stage

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

BLOOD Wedding, a story of love, lust and betrayal, opens at the Almeida theatre on May 12, 2005, (previews from May 5) for a limited period only - until June 18, 2005.

Inspired by real-life events in rural Spain, Blood Wedding spotlights the ultimate love triange - the bride, leaving her husband-to-be at the altar, eloping instead, with her childhood sweetheart.

Not surprisingly, the passions of both men involved run high, with dramatic consequences.

It will star Gael Garcia Bernal, who recently received well-deserved acclaim for his part in The Motorcycle Diaries, as well as previous performances in Bad Education and Y Tu Mama Tambien.

Adapted for theatre by Tanya Ronder, from a work by Federico Garcia Lorca, Blood Wedding will be directed by Rufus Norris who was responsible for Festen.

Tickets are now on sale and range from £6 to £27.50.
