IT HAS just been announced that Brooke Shields has extended her
run as Roxy Hart in the hit musical, Chicago,
by five weeks. Her final performance will now be on July 30, 2005.
She co-stars alongside Clarke Peters who returned to the role
of lawyer, Billy Flynn, following the departure of Michael French
who, reportedly, had a disagreement with producers about Shields'
role in the show.
Other cast members remain unchanged.
In November of last year, Chicago celebrated its seventh
anniversary in London.
PREVIOUSLY POSTED: IT HAS now been confirmed
that Brooke Shields is to play the part of Roxie Hart in the hit
musical, Chicago - for a limited nine-week season,
beginning April 26, 2005.
A so-called Roxie regular, Josefina Gabrielle, will play Roxie
for the two weeks following Jill Halfpenny's departure (on April
9) and Shield's arrival.
Anna Montanaro will continue in the role of Velma Kelly until
May 7, 2005, when Charley Izabella takes over.
Meanwhile, Michael French, Robert Hands and Zee Asher remain
- as Billy Flynn, Amos Hart and Mama Morton respectively.
Chicago is currently booking at London's Adelphi Theatre
until December 3, 2005.

ACCORDING to reports, Brooke Shields has accepted the role of
Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago,
this coming spring.
She is currently playing aspiring writer, Ruth Sherwood, in a
Broadway revival of Wonderful Town.
Her other Broadway credits include Grease! and Cabaret,
while Off-Broadway, she has appeared in The Vagina Monologues
and The Exonerated.
Her film credits are equally impressive and include Pretty
Baby, Endless Love, The Weekend, The Bachelor and King
of the Gypsies.
And it was a guest appearance in Friends - for which
she won an American Comedy Award - that led to her hit series
Suddenly Susan.
Chicago can be seen at London's Adelphi Theatre and,
for the next eight weeks, stars Strictly Come Dancing's
Jill Halfpenny as Roxie Hart.
